STAFFING SHORTAGES, LONG LINEUPS AND DELAYS AT THE AIRPORT

Libby Znaimer is first joined by David Flowers, President of District 140 at the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers followed by Dr. Gabor Lukacs, Founder and President  of Air Passenger Rights.

If you've travelled by air in the last little while, you likely encountered long delays and lineups t the airport. Why the long lineups? A lot of the blame is being put on security whose job it is to screen and handle customs. On the flipside, many travellers coming in from international flights are having to wait long periods of time due to Canada's COVID-19 public health care measures. David's union represents approximately 4,000 airport security workers in B.C. and Ontario. He says the situation of delays and lineups are going to probably get worse before they get better. Meanwhile, Gabor weighs in on the situation from the air passenger perspective and explains how travellers can be proactive in confronting the issue.
