The United States Commerce Dept. has levied a 20% duty on Canadian softwood lumber imports; something Prime Minister Trudeau has called punitive and unfair. The decision to slap a duty of about 20 per cent on our U-S-bound softwood stems from a long-standing dispute over whether Canadian companies' access to public land constitutes a subsidy. But does it mean the beginning of a trade war between the two countries? Marvin Ryder, professor at McMaster University’s Degroote School of Business joins us to talk about it.
