Deep in Crooked Oaks Forest, where ancient trees block out the sun and locals whisper about missing hikers, something ancient hunts. When a teenage boy accepts a dare to spend one night among those gnarled trunks, he discovers why generations of townsfolk have given these woods a wide berth. Some dares aren't worth taking, and some forests are better left unexplored. But it may already be too late by the time he learns this lesson.
