Description

In this week’s episode of “Mizzou Storytellers,” Loretta Jones and Dave Matter are joined by Mizzou men’s basketball co-captain Caleb Grill, who began the week leading the entire nation in 3-point shooting. The veteran sharpshooter tells the story of his upbringing as the son of a high school basketball coach who starred in multiple sports before a late growth spurt helped him bloom into a Division I basketball prospect. Grill discusses the special relationship he’s developed with both Tigers coach Dennis Gates and the Mizzou fan base along with lessons learned from last year’s injury-shortened season and how he began to view the game from a coach’s perspective – and how that’s paying off in his sixth season of college basketball. And for the first time since suffering a neck injury on Nov. 27, Grill talks about the scary moment when he feared his playing career was over – and what he’s done since then to flourish in SEC play.
