Description

In 2012, Michael Scott Moore was abducted in Somalia while working as a reporter. Two and a half years later, he was released after a ransom was paid. Now he has published the book, The Desert and the Sea, which is not only a memoir of his experience as a hostage but is also a work of reporting and a history of the situation in Somalia.

I wanted to talk with him, not about his experience as a hostage (you can find that story in his book and in other interviews), but about what happened once he came home.
