This week we have another special episode! We talk "Love On the Brain" by Rihanna, from her album ANTI, and we had Stephanie come back to talk all about narcissistic personality disorder(NPD) and how it can affect relationships. TRIGGER WARNING: We talk about NPD, borderline personality disorder (BPD), codependency, abuse - both physical and mental/emotional, and things of that sort.
Just listening to Rihanna's lyrics we can assume she is singing about someone with NPD, and also that she has codependency issues, which can be a trait of an individual with BPD. Someone with NPD being in a relationship with someone with BPD can become a toxic cycle of craving praise and "love", to feeling empty and neglected and then putting each other down physically or emotionally. There's SO much to it, but it's really unhealthy and definitely requires therapy, although narcissism doesn't really have a cure.
Shoutout to Stephanie for coming through with great information and for being an amazing guest! We can't stress enough how anyone can fall victim to an unhealthy relationship or being charmed into a relationship with someone with narcissism. That's why we want to have these conversations and try to be open, so that we can at least be knowledgeable and know how to spot the signs and how to be there for someone in that situation.
