Shanda Sharer was a 12-year-old girl from Madison, Indiana, who in January 1992 was lured from her father's home by four teenage girls and tortured for hours before being burned alive. Motivated by jealousy—Melinda Loveless, one of the killers, believed Shanda was involved romantically with her ex-girlfriend Amanda Heavrin—the attackers were Melinda Loveless (16), Laurie Tackett (17), Hope Rippey (15), and Toni Lawrence (15).
