Despite recent headlines, the Johnson Amendment (prohibiting non-profits from endorsing political candidates) still remains in the IRS Tax Law. And though the Trump administration has agreed not to enforce this poorly conceived law, this protection may not last long. Above all, Stephen urges religious leaders to refrain from becoming personality cults, and instead use their influence to teach principles and truths that can guide congregations in their political decision-making.
