These days, we speak very openly about topics that were once considered taboo: who we’re sleeping with, what our therapist said in our last session, but when it comes to money… oftentimes, our lips are sealed. In recent years, getting women invested in their financial futures has been on trend with countless female oriented campaigns and FinTech apps on the scene, but given that women couldn’t legally open a bank account until the 1970’s, the playing field is still far from even. It’s 2021, and many women are still being conditioned to feel shame around their spending, to outsource their finances, and told that if we “just stopped buying lattes” then we’d be just as financially competent as the men in our lives. It's time we take control and shift that narrative: How can we turn money from a source of stress to a source of strength?
