When the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was paused after six people experienced rare blood clots, many drew the parallel to birth control–a medication that can also cause blood clots. The double standard was glaring and left us asking, where is this sense of urgency and concern when it comes to women’s health? While it has always been the case, the events over this past year and a half have exposed the harsh reality that our medical system is not built to support or prioritize women or the non binary community. Thankfully, there are many trailblazers in the field who are fighting for a much-needed priority shift. On this episode of The Well+Good Podcast, we sit down with two of them: Dr. Jessica Shepherd and Dr. Shikha Jain, who break down the changes that need to happen both structurally and in our day-to-day lives in order to move women’s health to the forefront.
