Description

In Episode #14, we interview Eliza Hirst, esq. who is a former Deputy Child Advocate with the Office of the Child Advocate. Ms. Hirst spent nearly a decade legally advocating for children in DFS custody. During her time at OCA, she represented hundreds of children involved in dependency and neglect proceedings and used her knowledge and experience to pursue a deeper understanding of trauma. Ms. Hirst talks to us in this episode about using Trauma Informed Language and just how much our words matter to the people we are working with. This is a great episode that encourages us to reflect on our own words and actions in how we've worked with families as part of the CASA Program. Take a listen and think about how you can consciously utilize Trauma Informed Language on your own CASA case.
