- If you put your trust in happiness, then you’re going to be a victim of circumstances, because your happenstance will change.
- Joy in the Biblical context, is not an emotion. Joy is an attitude of the heart. It is not necessarily based on something positive happening.
- Joy is given by God. It is a gift. A benefit of our salvation. A fruit of the Holy Spirit. Evidence that the Holy Spirit is in your life.
- If your goal is happiness, you’ll often be disappointed, but if you determine to live in the joy God provides you’ll discover that it never runs out.
Habakkuk 3:17-18 – “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
