Episode 334 - Show Notes:
- At some point in just about everyone’s life, we ask the question: Where is God when I am suffering?” Life brings suffering to us all. Whether it’s sickness, family issues and struggles, financial problems, loneliness, stress, or fear; suffering comes to everyone.
- The Bible never promises us we won’t face hard times. As we read the Bible we learn all the men and women of the Bible suffered. There is a sobering verse found in 2 Timothy 3:12 that says, “In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”
- While suffering comes to us all, what the Scripture promises is God’s presence. He never leaves us and never forsakes us. He is with us in grief, he is with us in sickness, he is with us in pain, he is with us in financial difficulty, and he is with us in relational problems.
- This is reassuring because, while we may feel alone in our suffering, the reality is, we are not. We have never been truly alone, and we never will.
Psalm 139:7 – “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?”
Isaiah 43:1-3,5 - “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Do not be afraid, for I am with you”
