Description

Forgiveness is a decision you make to refuse to live in the past. It’s a conscious choice to release others from their sins against you, so that you can be set free. It doesn’t deny the pain or change the past, but it does break the bitterness that holds you to the wounds of the past. Forgiveness allows you to let go and move on. You offer this forgiveness freely because God has forgiven you freely.

Main Points:

1.  If there is anything that threatens to destroy our relationships, it is bitterness and unforgiveness. Wounds hurt deeply. Words spoken are impossible to forget. It seems that our natural, human tendency is to hold onto the offense. Unforgiveness isolates us from the offender and enables the relationship to fracture and break apart. This is not God’s will.

2. You and I need God’s forgiveness, yet if we withhold our own forgiveness, God will not forgive us. What a sobering thought!

3. With God’s help, let today be the day you forgive. Don’t hold the offense any longer. Walk out of the prison of offense and let your heart be free.

Today’s Scripture Verses:

Matthew 6:14-15 - “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
