In this study we turn our attention from John the Baptist’s ministry to Jesus and His preparation for ministry. Mark 1:9-13 records two monumental events in His life — His baptism by John the Baptist in the Jordan River and His temptations by Satan in the desert. As we will learn, both of these events prepared Him to fulfil His life’s mission of seeking and saving the lost (Luke 19:10). In essence, God was preparing His Son for His ministry to us.
