In the Fall of 1987, CBS was set to premiere their newest entry into the 80s Saturday Morning programming. It was a show based on the Garbage Pail Kids trading cards, and those things scared the willies out of parents. With the mention of the series, watch dog groups protested and threatened sponsor boycotts if the show made it to air.
The first season of the show, all 13 episodes, would sit in a vault for neatly 20 years before being seen in the United States.
What caused the cancellation before it aired? A letter from Reverand Donald Wildmon and his group, the American Family Association. That letter is the subject of this special episode.
Take a trip back to 1987 when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were new, the Simpsons were on somone else's show, and big hair was all the rage.
Thanks for 'tooning in.
