If you’ve been paying attention to the rock bands emerging from Wales in recent years, you’ll know there’s something special happening there. The level of talent is astonishing — and Florence Black are a prime example.
Tristan Thomas is the lead singer and guitarist of Welsh trio Florence Black, a band who have been setting the UK rock scene on fire with their gritty riffs and hard rock since 2013.
With two albums already under their belt — Weight Of The World and Bed Of Nails — Florence Black hit a major milestone when Bed Of Nails shot straight to number one in the UK charts.
Along the way, they’ve supported some of rock’s biggest names, including Alter Bridge, Steel Panther and Ugly Kid Joe, and have played on some of Europe’s most iconic stages, winning over crowds at both Hellfest and Download Festival.
In this episode of The Road To Rock Podcast, we catch up with Tristan on the road at Florence Black’s Southampton show in September 2025.
Tristan opens up about leaving school to pursue music, the people who backed him — and those who didn’t — the song he once feared he’d accidentally stolen, and what fans can expect from Florence Black’s highly anticipated third album.
