Description

When it comes to “the law,” one thing I’ve always found appealing is that while FEELINGS are important, it’s FACTS that win the day.

But what happens when feelings impact our ability to cohere around the same set of facts?

As a mediator I’ve seen this situation play out in miniature plenty of times, but over the past decade I’ve seen this discrepancy become more and more commonplace in our society.

Thankfully, my guest this week is an expert in the art of intrapersonal conflict.

Dan Allender is a visionary when it comes to the practice of trauma and abuse therapy.

He is the founder of The Seattle School’s Allender Center which aims to train therapists, pastors, artists, and leaders to more effectively serve in the context of the 21st century.

Dan is the author of multiple bestselling books including, “Leading with a Limp,” “The Healing Path,” and “God Loves Sex” and he currently serves as a Professor of Counseling Psychology.

We discuss how vulnerability is a positive weakness, why contempt is the basis of leadership for evil, and why we often get the leaders we don’t want – but think we deserve.

This is one of the heavier conversations I’ve had here on Legal Grounds, but I don’t think anyone will step away disappointed.

Enjoy the show!
