As a kid Gianni Grippo had tremendous support from his parents. Support that gave him the opportunity to train at one of the most prestigious BJJ academies in New York City. There he was able to take private lessons and train with some of the biggest names in Jiu Jitsu.
However as a young adult he began to feel his goals were not being supported in the way he needed and Gianni made the controversial decision to switch academies.
Moving just a few blocks away to another prestigious but competing academy, Gianni continued to train with some of the most respected BJJ Black Belts in the world. But in doing so he faced severe backlash.
Listen as Gianni talks about his amazing family, the incredible dedication it took to become one of the best in the world, and his decision to switch academies. A hugely controversial decision that now, after years of reflection Gianni says he would have handled differently.
