After the veil was torn apart, the second powerful thing that happened while Jesus hung on the cross was an earthquake. The earthquake dimension of the cross does not kill. It could shake the foundation of a building but it does not destroy the building. It has the potential to shake the earth surface but it does not swallow people or damage their property.
