Dr. Judy Dlamini is the founder and Executive Chairman of Mbekani Group and former Chairman of Aspen Pharmacare Limited, a JSE-listed pharmaceutical multinational. She is the current Chancellor of The University of the Witwatersrand.
She is the recipient of the 2020 Golden Door-Rex Karmaveer Gold medal; 2019 EY World Entrepreneur-SA, Lifetime Achiever award, 2018 UNISA Leadership in Practice Award amongst other awards. She received honorary Doctorates from The Nelson Mandela University in Business in 2018 and The University of KwaZulu Natal in Economics in 2019. A 2016 African Economy Builder Award, She started her career as a medical doctor before she went into business.
Her book 'Equal but Different' is based on her doctoral thesis which investigated the intersection of gender, race, and social class in women leaders' career progression and the leaders' proposed strategies for gender transformation at the leadership level.
"My interest in this area of study is based on my strong belief that people are born equal but different. It is a belief that equity across gender, race, and social class will be attained in my lifetime"
Her second book titled, 'The Other Story: A Fireside Chat with African Leaders' covers the life journeys of 12 African Leaders.
Her recently published book, which she co-authored with Lebohang Maango, "Grow to be Great: Awesome African Achievers" has 24 biographies of leaders from all sectors,
