This week on the G-IRL podcast we are getting real about scars. Let's be honest... we all have them! Whether we were born with them or acquired them through the years, they are a part of us. I really wanted to highlight this subject because society pushes the agenda that women are supposed to be perfect, unmarked creatures which is totally not the case. There are so many companies who profit off of "fading creams" and remedies that are supposed to lighten, hide, or remove scars, and I would love to be a part in changing the narrative to where we learn to embrace our scars and tell the stories that come along with them.
To help me discuss this topic, I have my good friend Abby Cramond join me! Abby is a sophomore at LSU studying textiles, apparel, and merchandising. After tearing her ACL twice and undergoing surgery that left her with permanent scars on her leg, she was inspired to create her platform My Battle Scar whose purpose is to bring self-love back into the women and men who are insecure about any marks on their bodies and prove that imperfections tell a story! In January of 2020, she launched her online jewelry boutique Joli Lione in order to share her love for fashion and to help spread her message of self-confidence. Abby was the 1st runner up at Miss Louisiana Teen USA and currently holds the title of Miss Louisiana for America. Be sure to follow Abby on her personal account at @abby.cramond and shop with her at @jolilione. While you're there, give us a follow too @_girls :)
