- Psalm 1 is an introduction to the rest of the book of Psalms.
- Psalm 1 instructs us through the use of contrast.
- The blessed person develops a pattern of omitting evil behaviours while committing good behaviours.
- What the righteous person doesn’t do
- Walk in the counsel of the wicked
- Stand in the way of sinners
- Sit in the seat of scoffers
- What the righteous person does
- Delight in the law of the Lord
- Meditate on the law day and night
- The outcomes of a righteous life and an evil life are radically contrasted.
- The righteous person is like a fruitful tree
- The wicked person is like windblown chaff
- The consequences of these two paths is clear.
- The wicked will not stand in the judgment.
- For the Lord knows the way of the righteous.
