Angels guarding the Garden of Eden signify imaginations or distractions that kept us from the reality of God. We trusted in our sense realm and did not know God. We tried to reach Him with our senses by creating rituals and laws in order to connect with Him. There was a veil separating us (not on His part, but on ours). In the temple, we see a 4-inch veil with cherubim covering the Holy of Holies. Jesus said to the Pharisees, "You shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering in to go in." Jesus tore the veil. When He died, the temple veil ripped top to bottom. He revealed there is no separation between us and God. We can relate to God as our loving, caring Father.
