James 1:5 says, "God gives generously without finding fault." It is His nature to give. It is who He is: a giver. Because He is joined to us, we too have the capacity to give as He does. Consistently and without finding fault. The word philanthropy comes from the greek "philo" meaning loving and "anthropos" meaning humans. Philanthropy is different from charity. Charity gives to the need while philanthropy goes to the source of the need and gives to that. God is a philanthropist. He loves humans and His giving goes to the very source of the need and gives to that.
