Many followers of Jesus use the words 'grace' and 'mercy' interchangeably and for good reason. Both are necessary to have a relationship with God, but they are not exactly the same. While grace refers to an act of love towards someone who is undeserving, mercy is an act of love towards one who is suffering. When we consider the extent of the mercy God has shown us through Jesus, we can understand why God wants his people to also be generous with mercy.
