Luke 8:41-56

Main Point: God is glorified as His children never lose hope in Him.
Christians need not lose hope:
1. Even in the toughest of circumstances.
- Luke 8:42a for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying.
- Job 13:15 Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.
- Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
2. Even after you’ve done everything humanly possible.
- Luke 8:43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,
- Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- 2 Corinthians 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
3. Because God has unlimited power.
- Luke 8:46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”
- Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
- 2 Chronicles 20:6 and said: “O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there notpower and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?
4. Even when everyone else seems to have.
- Luke 8:52-53 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead,but sleeping.” 53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.
- 2 Timothy 4:16-17a At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them.17 But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear.
5. Because God does what He pleases and He’s compassionate.
- Luke 8:54-55a But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.” 55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately.
- Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
- Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
