A basic understanding and acceptance of the doctrine of the Holy trinity is necessary to glorify God.
Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 13-14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
The doctrine of the Holy Trinity teaches us that:
1. There is one God.
- 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,;
- Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!
2. There are three persons in God’s divine nature.
- Luke 3:22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
- Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
- Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
- 1 Peter 1:2 elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
3. Each person in the trinity is fully God.
- Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
- Colossians 2:9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
- Acts 5:3-4 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”
