God is glorified when the power of His word is in full display in our lives.
Key Verse: Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
God’s word has authority:
1. Over the demonic realm. (Lk 4:31-37)
- Luke 4:35-But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.
- 1 John 4:4 -You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
- Revelation 20:10-The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[a] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
2. Over disease. (Lk 4:38-39)
- Luke 4:39-So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.
- Psalm 103:3-Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
- Revelation 21:4-And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
3. And doesn’t discriminate. (Lk 4:40-44)
- Luke 4:40-When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.
- Acts 10:34-35-Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. 35 But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.
- Romans 2:10-11...but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God.
