Romans 3:20-31 (CWSB)
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

▶️24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

🧐28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

29 Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

▶️Verses Romans 3:24-26
1️⃣ (CWSB) Being justified freely by his grace

2️⃣ (CWSB) through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

3️⃣ (CWSB) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation

📍propitiation. The general meaning of the word is the appeasing of the wrath of the Deity by prayer or sacrifice when a sin or offence has been committed against Him.

➡️To say that the death of Christ is ‘propitiatory’ is, then, to say that it is effective in restoring the relationship between God and man, damaged by sin.

📍The propitiation originates with God, not to appease Himself, but to justify Himself in His uniform kindness to men deserving harshness.

➡️1 John 4:10

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

4️⃣ (CWSB) through faith in his blood

5️⃣ (CWSB) to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Conclusion:

1️⃣ Propitiation is the Godward side of the work of Christ on the cross.

2️⃣The death of Christ for the sin of the world changed the whole position of mankind in its relation to God, for

3️⃣He recognizes what Christ did in behalf of the world whether man enters into it or not. 4️⃣God is never said to be reconciled, but His attitude toward the world is altered when the world’s relation to Him becomes radically changed through the death of Christ.

5️⃣God is propitious toward the unsaved and toward the sinning saint: “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our’s only, but also for the sins of the whole world”

➡️1 John 2:2

2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

📌 Expiation, propitiation, mercy seat

📍Walk by faith not by sight

Hebrews 11:1 (CWSB)

“By Faith”

1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

📍Don’t live to just be
