In this episode I tell you the true plan of Dumbledore in the second book. Enjoy!
Summary: From the first part in this series, we know how much of a planner Dumbledore is. And he is back at it again in the second book. Although I don't think he opened the Chamber of Secrets, everything besides that was orchestrated by Dumbledore. By hiring Gilderoy Lockhart, Dumbledore is trying to do three things for Harry. Dumbledore wanted to test Harry's loyalty, give him self-awareness, and give Harry protection. Harry's loyalty was tested two times. The first time was when Dumbledore asked Harry, "Is there anything you would like to tell my, Harry?" Dumbledore asked Tom Riddle that same question all those years ago. The second time Dumbledore tested Harry's loyalty was with Fawkes. Dumbledore said that only if Harry was truly loyal to Dumbledore would Fawkes appear. And appear he did. Dumbledore tested Harry's self- awareness by doing one thing: hiring Gilderoy Lockhart. Dumbledore may have known how much of a boaster Lockhart was. By hiring him, Harry would have to put himself in check. Dumbledore was making sure Harry wasn't going down the path of Tom Riddle by doing this. Finally, Dumbledore gave Harry protection in the form of the disarming charm, expelliarmus. That spell is what saves Harry's life on many occasions. If we trace the spell back to when and where Harry first saw it, we find the dueling club. Dumbledore could have easily told Lockhart to start a dueling club and teach that spell. But it wasn't Lockhart who cast that spell. It was Snape. All the more easy for Dumbledore to carry out his big plan.
