Description

For many of us the last few years have been disorienting, spiritually trying, culturally shifting. Israel went through times like this as well. In fact, some of those times were even worse, and God has preserved a record for our guidance. Psalm 137 offers an unfiltered and guttural response to the atrocity of shifting paradigms. The psalmist was not perfect, and neither is his response. We can learn from him, nonetheless. Unfortunately, his praise of God is contingent on blessing, it exalts the wrong things, and it takes joy in God's cursing rather than his blessing. Turning this approach to worship on its head offers us a way forward when we find ourselves in unfamiliar and disorienting times. Our guest pastor Joshua preaches on Psalm 137.
