Description

Fifty-two years ago this week, President Gerald Ford signed the law that capped what a PAC can give a candidate: $5,000. That number hasn’t moved since. This week, NABPAC made the case in 535 to change it, in an op-ed Micaela Isler co-signed with two former members of Congress, G.K. Butterfield of North Carolina and Ed Perlmutter of Colorado.

Micaela, David Schild and Adam Belmar unplug to talk about how the piece came together and why it matters now. The individual limit has been indexed since 2002. It’s $3,500 per election this cycle. The PAC limit is still frozen at 1974 levels while super PAC money pours in. They make the case for indexing as a workable, bipartisan fix, and talk about how to put the op-ed to work with your PAC board, your leadership and your next solicitation.
