"Today we are going to talk about my role and more specifically Elders roles with you, as a congregation. And we are doing this because the text is pointing us there.
Every commentary I read or sermon I listened to about this text kept going 'and to the pastors' or 'and to the elders of the church' over and over.
If we are going to recognize 2 Corinthians is a timely book for us for multiple reasons in regards to this cultural moment, in understanding who God is; We also recognize, as a young church it might be good from the jump to go:
'Well wait a minute, Sean, what is your role in my life and what's my role with you?'
And that is what this part of 2 Corinthians is going to do for us today."
