The Messiah Yeshua came to help us do what is right, namely to be righteous. Man-made doctrine twists this to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3:15-16 says, "Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures." What are they twisting? There was no New Testament at the time. They are twisting the meaning of the scriptures and God's commandments.
Last week we talked about holiness some. We are to separate our lives from doing evil by doing what is "right and good." When we do not keep God's commandments, we separate ourselves from God. Isaiah 59:2 NKJV, "But your iniquities have separated you from your God." Holiness carries with it the idea that we separate ourselves from sin. Leviticus 20:26 NKJV says, "And you shall be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine." People that say they are holy without acting holy are worshipping themselves instead of God. They have made themselves a god of their lives.
