In 2005 Jake Fry left his carpentry job building luxury homes in Vancouver BC to chase a dream of building small structures tucked away in people’s backyards and on alleys. Since then Jake and his firm Smallworks Studios has gone on to build over 300 laneway houses (also known as accessory dwelling units) and is arguably one of the most prolific design/builders of beautifully designed and meticulously built small houses in North America. Jake is a builder, change maker, and progressive housing policy advocate.
