Mike McCormick: A Farmer's Perspective on Leadership, Agriculture & Mississippi's Future

On this episode of The Stafford Shurden Podcast, I sit down with Mike McCormick, president of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation, cattle farmer, and one of the leading voices for agriculture in our state.

Mike isn't just somebody who talks about farming. He's lived it.

A native of Jefferson County, Mississippi, Mike operates a cattle and timber farm near Union Church that has been in his family since the 1820s. His roots in Mississippi agriculture run deep, and so does his commitment to the people who make their living from the land.

First elected president of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation in 2014, Mike has spent more than a decade advocating for Mississippi farmers, ranchers, and rural communities. Now seeking a seventh term, he brings years of experience and a farmer's perspective to the challenges facing agriculture.

We sit down for a conversation about leadership, the importance of Farm Bureau, the challenges facing today's farmers, and what the future might hold for agriculture in Mississippi.

We also talk about why having a strong voice for agriculture matters, not just to farmers, but to everybody who calls Mississippi home.

Whether you're a farmer, a business owner, or simply somebody who cares about the future of rural Mississippi, I think you'll enjoy this conversation.
