When we talk about acceptance, it’s often viewed in the sense of us receiving an opportunity or gift. But what about self-acceptance? What does acceptance look like exactly?
Acceptance is embracing every aspect of yourself and life free of judgment. Its the confidence to know that we’re not perfect, and that’s okay.
If you struggle with self-acceptance, you could be neglecting parts of yourself that need a bit more attention.
According to Positive Psychology, “Self-acceptance is exactly what its name suggests: the state of complete acceptance of oneself. True self-acceptance is embracing who you are, without any qualifications, conditions, or exceptions (Seltzer, 2008).”
In a nutshell, self-acceptance is like the calm in the storm of life. It's the feeling you get when you're just okay with being yourself, no need for fancy masks or trying to be someone you're not. It's like a warm, cozy embrace from within that says, "I'm pretty awesome just the way I am."
