Life is a series of ups and downs, and with it comes stressful situations that we cannot completely avoid. Having to deal with whatever comes our way is inevitable. There is no amount of planning nor preparation which will ever spare us from having to cope with certain events. At some point, we all have to deal with challenges and stressful situations so the need to cope with these events and circumstances becomes necessary.

As a reaction to certain experiences, we may develop coping mechanisms that enable us to bounce back from challenges. While we all attempt to cope with life every day, we may not always be dealing with each setback at a conscious level. 

 Our immediate instinct towards challenges, setbacks, or stress, will normally be to seek refuge and comfort. But what does this comfort mean? Does it only provide us with short-term benefits, or will they have long-lasting positive changes and effects in our lives?
