In this homily given at St Pat's on August 28, 2022, Fr. Mathias breaks open the gospel on Jesus' teaching on humility and exaltation. He offers four ways of humbling ourselves so that God might exalted us with Jesus in the kingdom of heaven:
1) Take the lowest place whenever you can
2) Receive honors and exaltation with humility
3) Intentionally love others who cannot love you back
4) Remember that God will pay you back in heaven.
Since Jesus is the one who first humbled himself to exalt us and was exalted at the right hand of the Father in heaven, our decision to live like Jesus positions us to be exalted in heaven with him.
