From the streets of Detroit, Michigan to the sidelines of St. Louis high school basketball, Coach Jerome Douglas has lived every chapter of the game. From a player, to a leader, and now one of the region’s most respected coaches, he continues to make a impact.
In this episode, Coach JD shares his journey from growing up in Detroit’s gritty basketball scene to earning his shot at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. There, he learned what it meant to adapt, lead, and represent more than just himself.
After hanging up the jersey, Coach quickly made a name for himself on the coaching side. He helped power some of St. Louis’ most successful programs, including a run at Cardinal Ritter College Prep, where he played a major role in bringing home multiple state championships and building one of the toughest defensive cultures in Missouri high school basketball.
Now, as the Head Coach at University City High School, Coach Douglas is working to write a new chapter, guiding his players to believe, compete, and chase the dream of bringing U-City basketball back to championship form before it’s all said and done.
This conversation is about grind, leadership, and legacy, a masterclass for any young player or coach chasing greatness.
