The scripture calls for us to be humble and obedience in this area is rewarded by God.

Humble is: having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's own importance.
Being humble is basically… possessing or manifesting humility.
Having a low view of one’s importance - BUT…… in contrast to WHAT?
I submit for consideration that:
For the Christian - as ambassadors for Christ. That humility is not SIMPLY about my understanding of who I am - but also of who I am in my RELATIONSHIP with Christ.
2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
1Pe 5:5-7 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (6) Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: (7) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Jas 4:6-8 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. (7) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (8) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
