Kim Newediuk: "I think my biggest obstacle was realizing that Jesus loves me...not so much everyone else...but certainly felt alot of shame growing up...and never really understood why...I just never felt "good enough" to be be loved by a Perfect God...I was always focused on trying to be good enough and striving to be accepted and loved. I had some Jewish friends at University. I remember asking God if Jesus was really His Son, and how do I know the truth about this...if we have to know Jesus to get to Heaven? Shortly after this, I remember "hearing" to read the Bible. I thought I was just feeling guilty or perhaps that reading the Bible was just something a good person should do! But eventually I listened and went to Indigo to buy a King James version with red print when Jesus spoke. I poured over it...bit by bit...journalling along as well and looking into other spiritual ways to satisfy the hunger. I was always buying books and continually reading the Bible. I had passed a study book on Mary and Martha onto my neighbour and she invited me to an amazing Bible study. I met so many people who loved the Lord and I could hear that same hunger in their voices. Women who loved Jesus. Another of my dear friends invited me to lunch and I knew she had something that I didn't had...this love, peace, and especially joy. That's what I wanted. I remember I went home and asked Jesus..with my whole heart surrendered.."Jesus I want to follow you..you know I do." The next morning I was reading Romans 10:11 " For Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame." The Holy Spirit opened my understanding right there and I could hear, what Jesus did for me on the cross and for all of us, and I felt an overwhelming sense of His love."
