Description

Dominick Domingo identifies as a Storyteller, an artist, a gay man and more recently as HIV positive. He graduated with distinction from Art Center College of Design in 1991 and spent 11 years as an artist with Disney Feature Animation in both LA and Paris, working on films including Lion King, Pocahontas and Hunchback of Notre Dame.  He also has illustrated books for major publishers including Penguin, Random House and Disney Publishing.

He speaks with Lisa about discovering his sexuality and coming out (such a good story), his creative work at Disney and beyond, and his denial about the chance of contracting human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and then acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

In his 50’s he fell incredibly sick and nearly died with AIDs. He tells the story of his “second coming out” and how the support of his family made all the difference.
