The Book of Ruth is a beautifully structured story about Love and Redemption. Using the historic and cultural context of the early Judges, this story portrays God’s astonishing strategy to employ both Jew and Gentile in the establishment of His Kingdom. Like Ruth the Moabite, gentiles - former enemies of God - have been accepted, redeemed and loved by Jesus. And as Boaz favourably assesses Ruth’s treatment of her mother-in-law, Naomi, so Jesus’ assessment of us will in part be informed by our attitude towards Israel today
