Lauren Mathews, right, attended Girls’ Day at the state Capitol, which is an annual event aimed at inspiring young women to become engaged in government. The participants had an opportunity to meet with female legislators and staff members, tour the Capitol and governor’s mansion, and participate in a mock legislative session. This event was hosted by State Representative Susan DuBose. Mathews is a student at Clarke Prep.
