Recently someone commented on a post asking me how I lost weight in menopause. It's been awhile since I told my story but before I tell you how I lost my weight in menopause I think it's only fair to tell you what I was dealing with in peri menopause and what brought me to finally losing that weight.

I was in my late forties around 47. I've always been on a diet literally since I've had kids, so, no stranger to dieting. But I was just getting fatter and fatter each year and it was getting harder and harder to lose weight each time and it was coming back on so fast. I was also struggling with digestion issues, some big-time food intolerances, which I got tested for. I had zero sex drive and I had no energy, I was so frustrated! I was working out sometimes two times a day, I was a spin instructor (this was all before covid) I was teaching five to six classes a week and I was embarrassed to walk into the studio. I didn't look the part at all. Here I am, an instructor, and I'm just getting fatter and fatter and I was trying so hard.

In all honesty I was a classic binge and restrict model and really stuck in that cycle. I was very strict with my calories, eating 1200 calories because I thought that’s what you had to do to lose weight. So eating 1200 calories Monday through Thursday ish and then by Friday let loose of the reins. I was definitely binging on wine, cosmopolitan's and all the foods that I wasn't letting myself have during the week. Obviously that was part of the problem but I was also in the mindset that I can exercise all those calories away and so I was so frustrated with why am I gaining all this weight even though I'm doing all this exercise? Yeah, I’m eating a bit extra on the weekends but it shouldn't be that bad and I just stayed stuck in this loop for so long. Just feeling like s*** every single Monday and saying this week is going to be better and it was just exhausting and draining. I had no energy and I’m  just watching my belly get bigger and bigger. I was also suffering with hair loss as well and I knew it was time to address this issue. I said to myself,I'm going to be 50 and that's when menopause is going to hit and I’m really going to be screwed. I had no idea (seven years ago nobody was talking about menopause) and I just thought when you turn 50 that's when you're going to get this menopause belly and I realized I needed help. That's when I reached out to my coach.
