Holger is the founder of Torque IT Solutions and the former Managing Director of Mercedes Benz Financial Services New Zealand. Prior to taking up the MD role, Holger was the CFO and Head of Operations at MBFS New Zealand.
It was originally an interest in project finance that attracted Holger to join the Management Associate Program at DaimlerChrysler Financial Services and after a series of assignments in Germany, Puerto Rico, South Africa and the USA across various functions he took up his first role in Finance and Credit Risk for Daimler Financial Services South Africa where he spent 3 years before moving to New Zealand.
In 2012, he and his co-founders left the relative comfort of their roles at Daimler and set out to build the systems that with all their operational experience they knew the industry needed.
Fast forward nine years and there has been a lot of learning along the way. In our conversation, we talk about the importance of having accurate data to know how you are performing and the culture, capability, clarity and purpose that have helped Torque IT Solutions to survive and grow.
I first met Holger about 11 years ago and I remember being inspired by his vision, passion and energy when he explained to me his decision to set up his business. Amongst our listeners I am sure there are individuals who consider leaving their corporate roles to pursue more entrepreneurial endeavours. I'm grateful to Holger for sharing his story so that we can get an insight into the reality of such a transition and what it takes to succeed.
