In this episode, we are diving into John 2. Remember the gospel of John uses two groupings of seven to help organize the gospel; seven miraculous signs and seven "I am" sayings. In John 2, we get the first sign. In the midst of a wedding reception emergency (ran out of wine), Jesus turned about 150 gallons of water into a fine wine!
Now each of us probably has a story about the day the wine ran dry. It might involve a marriage that's lost its joy, or the death of a loved one. It might involve a search for community or a difficult failure. I know people who would tell stories of regret or fear. Some don't even know the story, they just have this indescribable longing for an un-named something more. The wine has run dry. What do you do when the wine has run dry? Once upon a time, I thought that whenever the wine ran dry, I could always fill my cup on my own. Just worker. Do more. But at some point, I discovered that I was living under the illusion of my self-sufficiency when what I really needed was the reality of God's abundant provision....of joy. I trust this episode will open the door of your heart just a bit more to God's joy.
