Welcome to episode six of Grasp the Bible. In this episode, we return to the Book of 1 Timothy and cover chapter 3. The title of the message is, “The Church and Its Members.” We discuss:
Key takeaways:
Quotable:
For church leaders, what you do in your private life has consequences for the church.
Application:
Paul provides a litmus test for churches as they seek the Lord’s will in appointing leaders. Churches would do well to carefully examine the character of current and potential leaders as against the qualifications Paul lists. Since the church is a family, a good indicator of the leader’s ability to lead the church is to examine how he leads at home.
Not only are leaders to be men of high character, so should church members. We should behave in ways worthy of being called sons and daughters of God.
Finally, let us not forget that as we proclaim the gospel, we should not leave it that Christ died on the cross for our sins. More than that, he defeated death and was raised in glory for all of eternity. He is alive!
